Richard Sanford Candlelight Dinner - November 11 2018

$250.00

November 11, 2018

4pm-8pm

Join us for a very special evening with neighbor and pioneer vintner Richard Sanford.  Gather in the lingering light of the day with Richard and Rancho San Julian CEO and family member, Jim Poett at the Ranch Headquarters.  Enjoy sparkling wine and hors d’oeuvres while listening to first-hand accounts and stories of ranching and winegrowing history.  As the air cools you are invited into the Cowboy Dining Room, one of Rancho San Julian’s original adobe buildings built in the early 1800s.   Find a seat at the table near the roaring fire and together with Richard, Jim and their family, enjoy a locally sourced, three-course, candle light dinner prepared by Elizabeth Poett and Katie Hames, accompanied by local wines and Rancho San Julian Beef.

This will be a very intimate, very unique evening on the ranch and guests must be 21 and over. (Seats are limited.)

In 1971 Richard planted Pinot Noir just over the ridge of the Santa Rosa Hills from the Rancho San Julian Casa.  He was the first to do so and our region has since become one of the premier viticultural areas in California, known as the Sta. Rita Hills.  Richard’s 45 years of work in winegrowing, land stewardship and environmentalism have been instrumental in maintaining the balance of the natural beauty and agriculture of our region.
