Homemade Wreath

Homemade Wreath

Through out the year, I love hiking on the ranch. It allows me to clear my mind and helps me to process all the things that are going on around Rancho San Julian. Often I can’t find the time to walk until the early evening, but even if it’s a short walk, it’s so worth it.

While on these walks I find little treasures along the way and for the past few months I have been collecting feathers. At first I was unsure of what to do with all these feathers that were starting to collect dust all over our home, but then I thought of adding them to our living room wreath.

It’s a pretty big wreath that I made years ago, with dried grape vines, moss and drop deer horns. The dried grape vines were snipped off our patio's grape vines and are a great base for a wreath, as they are sturdy but just malleable enough to shape. Drop deer horns are exactly what they sound like. Once a year the male deer will shed or "drop" their horns. We find them all over the ranch and no matter how many we have I am always excited to find and add to our collection.

I always try to change the look of the wreath seasonally and add a fun touch to the wreath that is specific to the moment of time we are in. The feathers needed a home so I started to add them to my wreath after my walks, with the hope that come fall- this wreath will be full of beautiful feathers. Fall is right around the corner and I could not be more excited for cooler days to enjoy my walks and the cozy nights around the fire place enjoying the wreath.

Warmly,
