Creamy Mushroom Steak Sauce

Creamy Mushroom Steak Sauce

Simple steak dinners may be one of my favorite kind of dinners... but add this Creamy Mushroom Steak Sauce and you have a real winner. I love a simple steak sauce. It always seems to bring everything to another level of goodness. In the summer, I am looking for light and herby sauces, but in the winter I love making this warm filling mushroom sauce that balances so well with a great steak.

Recipe makes 2 servings

Total Time: 15 minutes

Active Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter

  • 8 oz Baby Bella mushrooms, chopped

  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced

  • 1 clove garlic, minced

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2 leaves fresh sage

  • 2 teaspoons fresh thyme

Directions:

  1. In a heavy duty saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

  2. Add olive oil, onion and garlic. Sauté until onions are translucent. Season with salt.

  3. Add mushrooms and sauté until soft.

  4. Add in heavy cream, sage, and thyme and bring to a simmer, stirring slowly.

  5. Simmer until the cream sauce reduces by about a quarter and has a thicker consistency.

  6. Serve over steak and enjoy!

Enjoy!
